Williams vying for councillor seat in City of North Battleford election

Warren Williams is one of the latest candidates announced who is seeking a councillor position in the City of North Battleford election.

Williams first considered running for council about two years ago and believes this is the right time.

“I’m excited to put my name forward,” he said. “I would be honoured to have people’s support. I think I can provide some common sense into our community.”

From North Battleford, Williams lives and works here with his family.

Williams has been a business owner, an employee as well as a “community champion” throughout Saskatchewan’s cities during his 45-year career. He has worked for over 13 years as a senior account manager for Bralin Technology Solutions.

Community service is important to Williams. He is a former president of both the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of the Battlefords, and has been involved with these two organizations for more than 20 years in total.

Williams said if he is elected he wants to make North Battleford a more business-friendly city, among his goals.

Williams is interested in promoting the city’s offerings and encouraging more people to settle in the Battlefords. He wants to see the Battlefords’ reputation improved as well, so people will appreciate the community for its positive aspects.

“We need to celebrate the diverse nature of our community, and find ways to come together,” he said.

“I think we need to engage with our citizens – the business community, special interest groups, and community service groups – [to] all get on the same page,” he said. “This is a community initiative that has to happen.”

Williams would like to see a variety of more businesses come to the area, including the manufacturing sector, “to help build careers for people to stay and make a living in the Battlefords.”

Overall, Williams believes he is the right person for a seat on council.

“I think I have the experience and the capability to do this job, and do it very well,” he said.
