Waste Management Facility resuming normal hours in September
After nearly six months, North Battleford’s Waste Management Facility is returning to regular hours.
Because of a dramatic reduction in visitors late in the evening during the peak of the pandemic this spring, the city had scaled the closing time back to 5 p.m. Starting September 1, operating hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. will occur again. Communications Administrator Dustin MacDonald said the slow return to the workplace for most residents precipitated the decision.
“The demand to have [the facility] open was dramatically reduced, so we reduced the hours of operation temporarily,” MacDonald said. “With services returning to regular hours with the Reopen Saskatchewan Plan, there’s demand for our regular hours of the waste management facility.”
In a continued effort to protect staff and the public from the possible spread of COVID-19, cash payments will not be accepted at the Waste Management Facility until further notice, along with other pandemic introduced measures. While interaction with employees rarely occurs at the facility, users are asked to stay socially distanced.
