Second virtual State of the City Address coming next week

Jun 11, 2020 | 12:40 PM

Residents will have an opportunity to get an update on the City of North Battleford’s work, and ask some questions as well at the upcoming virtual State of the City Address.

The event will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 online via Zoom. Anyone who wishes to attend the free event will need to register online in advance to reserve a spot through this link. They can also access the link via the city’s website.

Participants will be able to submit a written question for the city when they register.

Mayor Ryan Bater said while the city held a State of the City event previously this year, there was a need for a new address to residents.

“When we gave the first address it was early March and the pandemic had yet to reach our province,” Bater said. “Since that time a lot has changed and we felt it necessary just to provide an update.”

He said the event will not be a repeat of all the information the city presented in its previous address. Instead this will focus on new developments since that time.

Bater will give updates on the COVID-19 impact on the city and the its response to the pandemic, 2020 construction plans, and provide information of the 2020 Underground Pipeline and Asphalt Rehabilitation (UPAR) work during the event.

A moderated question and answer session will follow.

The city said in a release it will attempt to respond to all questions received. If there are any queries it cannot answer at the time, the city will follow up with a written reply. People are asked to submit their questions via the online link early.
