Boys and Girls Club announce scavenger hunt fundraiser

Registration is 25 dollars, where the scavengers then have to document their finding of each of the locations between July 6-31. Combres said there will be some help to get participants started.

“The clues will be visual clues, they’ll have to go to that location and there’ll be a little task or fun fact about the location,” she said.

After having social media posts verified for the correct locations, participants are entered into draws, including a parent’s night out package, a family night in package and a grand prize $1,500 gift card to Co-op. Anyone can get additional entries into the draw by every $100 donation to the club for the gift card and by sponsoring other families’ participation in the scavenger hunt for additional entries in the other draws.

“That will give a family a chance to participate in the event that might not have the financial means to participate,” Combres said.

As the Battlefords went through the initial weeks of the pandemic, Combres said they had to adjust quickly in order to help as many families as possible. They plan to continue their pandemic support service through the funding from the event.

“We’ll continue to offer that until the world we find ourselves in begins to improve and the families that we are supporting are able to support themselves again.”

Robin Petersen of Blend Restaurant and Bar, who hosted the club’s announcement, said he hopes people throughout the community jump on board to participate.

“They’re one of the most important organizations in town,” he said. “They do a lot of really good work.”
