City tackling several water line breaks

The City of North Battlefords was busy addressing a number of water line breaks Monday.

A road is currently closed to traffic at Eighth Avenue, from 105th Street to 107th Street due to a water main break. The repair work continued throughout the day Monday and should be completed shortly.

The city said there are also several water line breaks and some valve issues crews are addressing in part of North Battleford. As a result there has been a large upset in the distribution system in the northeast corner of the city from 11th Avenue up through Douglas Avenue, from roughly 105th Street East. The situation is expected to be resolved later in the day.

Dustin MacDonald, city communication administrator, said residents in the affected area should refrain from drinking the water until it runs clear.

“It’s just a matter of time until it does clear up,” he said. “The water is still safe to drink.”
