Nineteen-year-old charged with second-degree murder in Fond du Lac

A 19-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault after an altercation in Fond du Lac early on Saturday morning.

At 6 a.m., Fond du Lac RCMP were called to a residence due to a dispute, where they found two people injured. Skylar Smith, an 18-year-old from Fond du Lac who also went by Skylar Fern, was later pronounced dead at hospital. There will be an autopsy conducted on Monday in Saskatoon, as part of the on-going RCMP investigation.

Jacob John Pacquette fled from the scene to another residence, where he was arrested without incident at 7:31 a.m. Pacquette has been remanded and will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court by telephone on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
