RCMP COVID-19 CALLS

RCMP respond to over 800 COVID-19 complaints

Apr 17, 2020 | 4:05 PM

Between March 1 and April 16, RCMP in the province responded to 894 COVID-19 related calls.

Calls for service include 229 complaints of social gatherings of over 10 people, 395 complaints of people failing to self-isolate when allegedly required to do so, and 270 other COVID-19 related complaints.

There were 13 charges laid.

The majority of the calls for service were concluded by educating the public about the potential health and enforcement consequences which can come from non-compliance with the Public Health Order.

Saskatchewan RCMP continue to work closely with Saskatchewan Health Authorities to investigate any potential violations of the order.

Police officers are responsible for ensuring their actions do not put others at risk while doing their part to slow the spread of the virus.

The public is asked to do the same by staying at home and avoiding situations where there may be potential to spread the virus.
