Co-accused in Jonson’s homicide heading to trial at Queen’s Bench Court

The co-accused in the death of Mark Douglas Jonson will now be moving to trial at Queen’s Bench Court in Battleford with the date still to be confirmed.

David Keller, 47, who remains in custody, is facing a first-degree murder charge in Jonson’s homicide investigation.

He was initially scheduled for a preliminary hearing in North Battleford Provincial Court to start March 30.

Crown prosecutor Steven Larocque confirmed Keller has instead consented to his committal to stand trial at Court of Queen’s Bench in Battleford, with a date still to be determined. He will next proceed to the pre-trial conference stage in the process.

Jonson, 61, was found dead in a home on 15 Ave. and 100 St. in North Battleford on July 5, 2019.

The co-accused, 22-year-old Nicolas Buck, is also facing a first-degree murder charge in Jonson’s homicide.

Buck who remains in custody is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the case at North Battleford provincial court starting April 28.
