North Battleford’s city and school playgrounds closed due to COVID-19

All of the city’s outdoor playgrounds, as well as school playgrounds are now closed due to COVID-19 concerns.

The City of North Battleford is asking residents to continue to practice social distancing and stay home whenever possible.

According to the city’s statement, effective immediately all outdoor City of North Battleford playgrounds are closed.

“The closure is an effort to curb public gatherings and to minimize the potential spread of COVID-19 in the community,” the city’s communications administrator Dustin MacDonald said in a media release. “The closure is for an indefinite period of time during this global pandemic.”

The city announced schools in North Battleford have closed their playgrounds as well.

“A community effort is required to limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19,” MacDonald said. “Please practice social distancing and remain home whenever possible.”

The city is reminding people to make sure they access accurate and up-to-date information surrounding the COVID-19 virus through the province’s website, and “avoid misinformation, rumours and bad information.”
