SaskPower helping customers affected by COVID-19

Mar 18, 2020 | 10:49 AM

SaskPower announced Wednesday that it’s suspending active collections and will stop disconnecting residential customers for non-payment.

The moves are being done to assist customers who are affected by COVID-19.

“The health and safety of our employees and customers is SaskPower’s top priority,” Shawn Schmidt, SaskPower’s vice-president of distribution and customer services, said in a media release.

“We know the impact of the current pandemic can affect household finances, and that is why we are taking these measures today.”

The Crown corporation said any customers who are worried about their ability to pay their bills because of the coronavirus can call 1-888-757-6937.

As well, any customers who have had their power cut off or who have load limiters on their homes can call SaskPower to be reconnected or to have the limiters removed.

“Flexible payment arrangements will continue to be available to customers during the pandemic,” the release added. “All customers will ultimately be responsible to pay for the power they use.”
