Two Onion Lake men facing charges after allegedly ramming into police vehicle in escape attempt

Two Onion Lake men are facing charges after allegedly ramming into a police vehicle while attempting to flee in a stolen vehicle in an incident Wednesday.

RCMP report on Jan. 29 Onion Lake RCMP detachment and North Battleford Crime Reduction Team members investigated after a stolen vehicle was found at a residence on Onion Lake First Nation.

When police arrived at the location they noticed two individuals enter the vehicle and attempt to flee the area.

Police report when the suspects tried to leave, their vehicle allegedly rammed two police vehicles while travelling at a low speed, and they managed to escape.

Police located the vehicle again a short time later abandoned by the suspects.

The suspects were later arrested after Police Dog Service members from Lloydminster and North Battleford managed to track them down.

Two 19-year-old Onion Lake men were arrested on outstanding warrants and were remanded in custody.

Both are facing a range of charges including assaulting a police officer, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen property.

More details are to come after they make their first court appearance.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
