Frieda Regal

REGAL, Frieda Ida late of Battleford Distric Care, passed away on February 23rd, 2019 at the age of 91 years.
Frieda was born January 25th, 1928 in Hague, SK, she was one of 21 children born to August and Pauline Hartz.
Frieda had to quit school at a very young age to help care for the younger children. At the age of 15, she left home and went to Saskatoon and worked at various jobs, winding up at Intercontinental Packers. She met John Kardos and they married in 1947. She had 8 miscarriages before deciding to adopt Robert and Marilyn. Donnie was born in 1963 and shortly afterwards John passed away in 1964.
In 1965 Frieda met Adolf Regal and they were married. They moved to Wilkie and then to Battleford where their son Fred was born.
Frieda devoted her life to raising foster children and one summer there were over 100 kids that went through their home. She always helped the handicapped as much as she could. She worked casual at Battlefords District Care Centre, on top of the foster care until she retired at the age of 65. She continued to look after Yvonne and Richard, two handicapped children, until she was no longer able to do so. Adolf passed away in October 2015 and Frieda lived at her home with the assistance of her son until the age of 90. The last few months of her life were spent at Battlefords District Care Centre, the same place she dedicated herself to caring for others.
Frieda was predeceased by her husbands John Kardos and Adolph Regal, her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her children Robert (Janet), Ryan, Shauna, Marilyn (Gordon), Jan, James, Don (Linda), Angel, Ashley, Lisa, Fred (Kimberley) and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral Service for Frieda will be held Friday, March 1st, at 11:00am at Sallows & McDonald – Wilson & Zehner Funeral Home Chapel (1271 103rd Street, North Battleford, SK.) with Burial in Battleford Cemetery.
