Man facing drug-related charges stemming from police patrol

A man is facing drug-related charges following an investigation stemming from a police patrol Tuesday morning.

Battlefords RCMP report at about 9 a.m. members of the Battlefords Gang Task Force were on patrol when they came across a vehicle driven by a suspect known to have warrants for his arrest.

RCMP tried to the stop the vehicle but it immediately fled the scene. Police did not pursue it.

A short time later the vehicle was located at a residence on the 1800 block of 91st Street in North Battleford. Officers along with the Police Service Dog followed tracks from the vehicle to a residence.

Officers spoke with the occupants at the house and were able to locate and arrest the driver of the vehicle without incident.

Inside the vehicle, RCMP located a significant amount of cocaine and crack cocaine. The investigation is continuing.

Trent Angus, 30, of Edmonton, is facing charges of flight from police; dangerous operation of a vehicle;
possession of stolen property; possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking; and numerous charges of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Angus will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
