Police seize conducted energy weapon during traffic stop near Maidstone
A routine sobriety traffic stop led officers to discover a handheld conducted energy weapon.
On Oct. 10 at around 2:30 p.m., the Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit pulled over a vehicle on Highway 16 near Maidstone.
Officers smelled cannabis during the traffic stop and searched the vehicle. They found a legal amount of cannabis and the driver passed a standard field sobriety test.
However, the member located and seized a handheld conducted energy weapon that belonged to the passenger.
