A man facing charges for allegedly defrauding Viterra Inc. out of thousands of dollars pleaded guilty to one of three charges in Court of Queen’s Bench on Friday.

David Glassford, 42, who is out of custody, pleaded guilty to using deceit, falsehood or other fraudulent means to defraud Viterra Inc. and numerous of its customers of money and grain exceeding $5,000 between June 8, 2010, and Jan. 10, 2014, around Wilkie.

Two charges still to be spoken to are possession of proceeds of a crime exceeding $5,000 and transfer the possession of proceeds over $5,000 obtained by a crime.

Defence lawyer Brian Pfefferle and Crown prosecutor Charlotte Morden, who both appeared by phone, remain in discussion for a possible plea deal if they can come to an agreement in the complicated case.

“We are working towards conclusion of the file,” Pfefferle said.

Justice Gerald Allbright said he is looking forward to receiving the proposal.

Allbright adjourned the matter to Sept. 26. Pfefferle said he and Morden will submit their proposed joint submission request before that date so Allbright will have an opportunity to review it.
