Street mural brightens up N.B.

 A pocket in North Battleford’s northeast end is now a lot brighter and maybe a little safer too after volunteers came together to create a colourful street mural for a busy intersection on Saturday.

The Canada 150th anniversary logo now graces the intersection of Clements Drive at Hamelin Street and Bunce Crescent.

“It does look beautiful,” North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater said. “I’ve got to really thank all of the volunteers who came out to give their time on a Saturday morning, and to Discovery CO-OP for donating the paint.”

He said he is hearing “nothing but praise” from locals.    

The project is a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Review Committee initiative, and aims to beautify the neighbourhood, promote safety, and help slow down traffic which has been a problem for the area.

“The city has been receiving calls from other neighbourhoods that are interested in doing similar projects,” Bater said. “So this may be something we look at doing in other neighbourhoods next season.”
