France’s Macron to meet Trudeau, visit Montreal ahead of G7 summit in Quebec
OTTAWA — French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau next week in Ottawa before the two sit down with their G7 counterparts for the leaders’ summit in La Malbaie, Que.
Both Trudeau and Macron will likely compare notes on how to nurture their relationships with an unpredictable G7 partner both men have worked hard to befriend: President Donald Trump.
The French Embassy in Ottawa says Macron will meet Trudeau and Gov. Gen. Julie Payette on June 6 before he visits Montreal on June 7 and then Quebec City.
The embassy is describing Macron’s Canadian visit as a working trip to prepare for the G7 summit on June 8-9 northeast of Quebec City.
