Top Quebec court overturns naturopath’s acquittal and convicts her of manslaughter
MONTREAL — Quebec’s top court has overturned a 2015 acquittal of a Montreal-area naturopath in the death of a patient 10 years ago and convicted her of manslaughter.
Mitra Javanmardi has also been ordered to stand trial on a charge of criminal negligence causing death, for which she had been acquitted.
Roger Matern, 79, died after Javanmardi injected him with a contaminated substance.
Javanmardi is scheduled to appear in Quebec court for sentencing on the manslaughter conviction.
