Crack down on distracted driving continues in North Battleford
If you phone or text while driving not only is it illegal, but the city of North Battleford wants to remind you it’s also expensive.
Every year SGI releases a report to city officials listing high risk intersections, times and reasons for accidents.
“Officials across Saskatchewan have been targeting people for distracted driving,” North Battleford fire chief Albert Headrick said. “That could be from talking on your phone or texting – whatever takes your eyes off the road. If you’re going to text or talk, pull over because we’ll catch you and it’s a $250 fine and you know what? That bites the pocket book.”
So far, 50 people in North Battleford have been fined for distracted driving and Headrick plans to continue extensively ticketing throughout the summer.
