Ride for a Vet returns for another rocking road trip

Jul 8, 2016 | 12:07 PM

The rumblings of big bikes will be in the air as bikers from all over the city and the province gather on Saturday morning. They will be coming out to support the 14th annual Ride for A Vet event outside the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.

The event is put on each year by the Canadian Legion as a fundraising initiative to raise money for veterans. This year, the event is specifically raising funds in honour of veteran, Derek Dyck.

The event itself is a charity poker run where bikers will ride from North Battleford to the town of Meota, competing with one another in a type of scavenger hunt as they ride en route to their destination. Celebrations will continue with a dinner, cabaret and motorcycle draw.

The Rockin’ the Rink in Meota’ caberet will be held at the Meota rink and feature local artists such as the Groove Diggers and the Barons of Buckingham.

Registration at the North Battleford Canadian Legion begins at 8 a.m. along with a breakfast which will run until 10:30 a.m. before riders hit the road at 11 a.m.
