Sask. woman charged in human smuggling incident at border
A Regina woman has been charged with human smuggling after nine people were intercepted while crossing into Canada.
The arrest was made as a part of Project FADDUCE. The on-going project started four months ago, involving the RCMP integrated border enforcement team, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. border agencies.
On April 14, nine people were caught between the North Portal and Northgate entry points trying to cross the border into Canada.
At a news conference Wednesday, RCMP and CBSA wouldn’t release details about the identities of the individuals seeking refugee status, citing privacy.
