Generous donation to BUH by Lions Club

Apr 4, 2017 | 10:30 AM

Weeks before the On Air for Healthcare Radiothon is set to hit the airwaves on CJNB, Q98 and 93.3 the Rock, the donations are already coming in for the Battlefords Union Hopsital Foundation.

Recently members from the North Battleford Lions Club showed their generous support of the foundation by presenting staff members with a cheque for $10,000 dollars.

“That’s an incredible donation,” Nic Fransoo, Program Manager at Q98 said. “Our area is full of great organizations like the Lions Club who always step up when needed and we are hoping more will to help us reach our goal.”

This year’s 12-hour On Air for Healthcare Radiothon will be held Friday, May 12 and will support the Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) department to replace 30-year-old equipment. The goal for this year’s Radiothon is $380,000.

Since it was chartered in 1954, the NB Lions Club has been supporting initiatives such the BUH foundation by fundraising. Events such as their popular Lions Gun and Toy Show, now in its 12th year, have been a major revenue source for the club which allows them to continue to do the work they do.

“The Lions Club has always been very supportive of the (BUH) foundation,” fund development officer Shauna McGifford added. “They made several contributions to our CT scanner drive last year and we are so appreciative of what they do.”

During the 12-hour On Air for Healthcare Radiothon, groups, businesses and individuals are encouraged to visit the main lobby of the BUH office on May 12 and present their donations which will be aired live.

Last year’s Radiothon realized almost $500,000 for a new CT scanner.
