Young goalie tandem proving beneficial for Sharks
The AAA Sharks won their third game of the year on Sunday afternoon, equalling their win total from all of last season, and we’re only in late November.
The win was the team’s third in four games, and as much as that has to do with a reinvigorated offence, much of the credit also has to be given to the team’s two rookie goaltenders, Chloe Burt and Chantel Weller.
Over the past four games, the two have combined for .929 save percentage. Burt has stopped 61 of 64 shots in her last two starts – both wins – and Weller stopped 44 of 46 shots in an 8-2 win over Weyburn last weekend and then did her best in Saturday’s shelling where she made 39 saves on 45 shots.
Both girls were – understandably – nervous coming into camp as 14-year-olds, having never played at the AAA level before.
