North Stars make moves for first roster cut down
With Dec. 1 being the first major roster cut-down day of the season, the North Stars made a number of minor moves.
By yesterday, all SJHL teams had to slim their rosters down to 25 players – goalies included – but if they intend on making any future moves, they have to get below 25 to make room for potential added pieces.
The North Stars are now down to 21 after trading 18-year-old Jeremy Velazquez to the La Ronge Ice Wolves for a player development fee, assigning 18-year-old Keelan Saworski to the Fernie Ghostriders of KIJHL (Junior B), and assigning both Connor McIntosh and Jayden Nachtegaele to the Saskatoon Quakers of the PJHL (Junior B).
Velazquez dressed in just 17 of 29 games for Battlefords this season, while McIntosh played 19 and Nachtegaele played 11. Saworski wasn’t picked up until early November and only played in two games.
