Sheidegger avoids extra ends and stays alive with precision shot
An extra end appeared to be written in stone as skip Casey Sheidegger of Alberta went to throw the hammer in the eighth. Team Einarson from Manitoba was laying three and it seemed the best Sheidegger could do was submit two and move on to a ninth end. Sheidegger had other ideas though, as she hit and rolled tight into the button to score one point for a 7-4 win. The team advanced to Saturday morning’s 8 a.m. final elimination draw with that shot.
In other action, Team Homan of Ontario easily handled Team Meilleur of Manitoba 6- 0. Homan has now won two straight to keep her teams hopes alive after surrendering their first two. Homan will now play Team Harrison in a battle of Ontario tomorrow morning, while Meiller has been eliminated.
Team Roque of Alberta dropped their “B” bracket game to Team Flaxey of Ontario 3-7. Flaxey moves on to the playoffs, while Rocque plays in a do or die tomorrow morning against Alberta’s Sheidegger.
Team Fleury of Ontario eliminated the Chinese Team Wang 5-4. Fluery now has new life as they face Team Englot from Manitoba in tomorrow morning’s final “C” draw.
