New Year means new programs for Lakeland Library
2017 is going to be a big year for the Lakeland Library Region, with a wide variety of new and exciting programs planned.
“To start off the New Year, we have launched our Winter Reading Program with the theme Escape from Winter. It includes activities and prizes for all ages, with a donation drive to assist the Battlefords Humane Society,” Colin Evans, community services librarian, said.
The library is also introducing ‘Makerkits’ this year, Evans said. These kits focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and cover topics like electronics, structural design, basic computing and 3D modelling.
“Once launched, they will be rotated throughout the library region to both our city and rural branches. We will also unveiling a 3D printer.” Evans said. “We are excited to be able to bring this technology to communities throughout the region, as it helps bridge the digital divide by providing equal access to those who may not have the opportunity to access the latest trends in technology.”
