AA Sharks advance to round 2

In their inaugural season, the Battlefords AA Sharks have advanced to the second round of the playoffs after beating the Elrose Aces in round one.

The Sharks’ 9-11-4-0 regular season record was good enough for fourth place in the seven-team North Sask Female Hockey League, and pitted them against the fifth-place Aces, who also had 22 points in the regular season.

The quarter-final series was a best-of-two, were whichever team scores the most goals in the two games advances. The teams tied 5-5 in game one, and Battlefords shut out Elrose 1-0 in game two.

Battlefords was trailing 5-2 at one point early in the third period of game one, but they showed resiliency when they stormed back with three straight goals from Madison Puffalt, Kaitlyn Korpach, and Kendra Leer. They also outshot Elrose in game one 41-20.
