Midget A Barons crowned STEP league champions
It was another tight game in the finals of the midget A STEP league finals and once again it was the Battleford Barons who came out on top.
Thanks to their 4-1 win in game two, Battleford claimed the league championship on Thursday night after taking the series 2-0.
This was a team that lost just one game in their entire regular season and playoffs.
“The kids were really excited,” Barons assistant coach Owen Gentes said. “It was nice to watch them out there celebrating. [Head] coach [Kelly] Page, he put all the third years out for the last minute and a half or so, so that they’d be on the ice when the buzzer went. It was pretty neat to watch.”
