Teen threats taken seriously by RCMP

Apr 6, 2017 | 5:00 PM

Police are investigating reports of a 15-year-old male youth uttering threats towards a 13-year-old boy on Wednesday in North Battleford.

Cpl. James Fenrich of the Battlefords RCMP said no charges have been laid and both boys have been spoken to about the incident.

Included in the investigation are reports that the older boy allegedly brought a weapon to a school to confront the 13-year-old. He is suspected of uttering threats during the incident.

Police say no one was physically injured.

The youth’s names are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Because the investigation is ongoing, information including the name of the school, type of weapon and type of threats have not been released.

Fenrich added he would like to remind everyone that the RCMP takes uttering threats and weapons threats very seriously. If anyone has details on this incident they are asked to contact the Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
