Poppies available starting tomorrow

It’s once again the season to proudly wear a poppy on your chest.

The Legion will have poppies available starting Oct. 29, with cadets offering them for donation at select locations including the Frontier Centre Mall, the Territorial Place Mall and Canadian Tire.

On the Sunday after, Walmart will be carrying them and on Monday, Oct. 31 they will be available at over 50 retailers around the community, according to a spokeswoman for the Royal Canadian Legion #70 in North Battleford.

Poppies have been used since the 1920s as a symbol to commemorate the men and women who died in conflict. They are offered by donation, and the money raised goes towards the Poppy Fund which according to the Legion’s website is used to help currently serving and retired veterans and their families.
