Inaugural golf tournament in N.B. exceeds expectations
A charity golf tournament in North Battleford almost doubled its $10,000 goal.
The inaugural Brian Maunula Memorial Golf Tournament took place on Sunday, Sept. 25. at the Rustic Nine Golf Course. It was the brain child of six-year-old Shae Maunula who wanted to create a youth tournament to commemorate his late grandfather.
Shae used the tournament as a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital Foundation and asked all players participating to raise money. The Maunulas set a goal of $10,000 and wound up raising roughly $18,000. Shae’s mother Jaime Maunula was very excited about the turn out.
“It was a phenomenal day. Words can’t even express how smoothly it went,” Jaime said. “We were able to get way beyond our goal. We are definitely looking to do it again next year.”
