First cuts made at North Stars camp
Seven players were cut after Wednesday’s night scrimmage at the North Stars training camp, bringing the current roster down to 31 players from the original 38.
Head coach and general manager Nate Bedford said most of the cuts were made simply because the players were on the younger side of things.
“For the most parts, our cuts were due to age,” Bedford said. “We were looking at cutting 99s and 2000s. I thought all the guys that tried out worked as hard as they could. Certainly the guys that were cut are going to get some invites back.”
The cuts included Ty Muench, a North Stars fourth round pick in the bantam draft this past June, and Austin Wieler, a Laird, Sask. native who played midget AAA for the Saskatoon Contacts last season.
