Exhibition back on track after 2015 slump

While attendance was down last year, favourable weather and big attractions made this year’s exhibition was one of the best in recent memory.

The 129th Northwest Territorial Days at Exhibition Park wrapped up Friday, Aug. 19. According to Jocelyn Ritchie, the General Manger of the Battlefords Ag Society, 18,000 people attended the Ex this year; up 3,000 from last year.

“We had a wonderful year,” Ritchie said. “The midway had one of the best years it’s had in a long time and some of the food booths had record years.”

According to Ritchie, last year’s attendance was down due to weather. As the Ag Society is a non for profit organization, increased Ex numbers ensure its survival.

“We have had years when we haven’t had enough money to put the fair on,” Ritchie said. “We have been doing really well lately, though. Even after a slump last year we came into this year fine and we have money in the bank.”
