150th Anniversary of Treaty 6 Commemoration: New Single Cinematic Single “1876”
The song, “1876” channels Indigenous storytelling, traditional musical influences, and reflections on Treaty 6 into a powerful tribute recognizing strength, resilience, and self-governance.
The song will be performed live at Fort Carlton, SK on August 23 2026 at the four-day long recognition event, exactly 150 years after the treaty was signed.
August 23, 2026, will mark the 150th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 6 – a historic agreement between Indigenous communities and the Crown that changed the livelihood of over 50 Indigenous bands living on a 309,760 km stretch of land between what is now Saskatchewan and Alberta, while also reaching communities in Northern Manitoba.
Built on promises of mutual respect, shared responsibility, and coexistence, the Treaty established a nation-to-nation relationship that continues to shape the lives of people living on Treaty 6 Territory today.
