Red Pheasant purchases controlling stake in oilfield construction company

Red Pheasant Cree Nation has purchased 70 per cent of L&L Oilfield Construction based out of Lloydminster.  

The First Nation announced the acquisition on Friday, stating it represents a significant accomplishment. A news release notes owning and directing an established, proven business is a major step forward for economic self-determination, as well as source of long-term jobs, training and career opportunities for members.  

Beyond employment, the new business is meant to generate sustainable revenue to support the priorities and well-being of the community.  

“This is a proud day for Red Pheasant Cree Nation,” Chief Cody Benson is quoted as saying.
