Funnel cloud conditions forecast for RM of North Battleford
A weather alert for the RM of North Battleford shows favourable conditions for the development of funnel clouds northwest of the City.
Environment Canada said an unstable air mass could lead to isolated cold core funnel clouds. While those funnel clouds are usually short-lived and often do not touch down, they can sometimes briefly reach the ground as weak tornadoes.
Any wind gusts linked to the funnel clouds are usually brief and localized, but they have been known to cause minor damage to loose objects and vegetation. Funnel clouds can form quickly with little or no warning when conditions are right.
The agency advises people to take any funnel cloud sighting seriously and to take shelter if one approaches their area. They are also encouraged to regularly check the forecast for updates.
