New Sask. drug trafficking law takes effect
A new Saskatchewan law that allows the government and individuals harmed by illicit drug activity to recover costs from those involved in the production, trafficking, importing or exporting of highly addictive drugs is now in force.
The Response to Illicit Drugs Act took effect June 1.
Justice Minister and Attorney General Tim McLeod said traffickers are causing serious damage in communities across Saskatchewan.
“Drug traffickers cause real and lasting harm to individuals, families and communities across Saskatchewan,” he said in a statement.
