“Hamilton felt like a second home to me, Shiltz said. “Coming here, it’s where I really felt I settled down as a player and as a man.

“There was something different about this place and something different about playing in front of the fans that always stuck with me. To the Ticats fans, thank you for welcoming me in. This place will always have a special place in my heart.”

Shiltz, a native of St. Charles, Ill., appeared in 106 career regular-season games. He completed 401 of 626 passes (64.1 per cent) for 5,078 yards with 22 TDs and 27 interceptions.

He rushed for 789 yards on 124 carries (6.4-yard average) with six touchdowns.

Shiltz played collegiately at Butler University (2012-15). He appeared in 29 games and threw for 4,037 yards, 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also ran 857 yards and 13 TDs.
