Battlefords RCMP teach road safety during youth bike rodeo
Battlefords RCMP are helping young riders stay safe during Bicycle Safety Week from May 10 to 16.
Throughout the week, Grade 3 students in the Battlefords region will take part in the annual youth bike rodeo. This event is a RCMP-led initiative designed to give kids skills and confidence before hitting the road.
Youth will learn how to properly inspect their bikes to ensure everything is in good working order, the importance of wearing a helmet, and how to achieve a proper helmet fit. They will also learn essential road safety rules and practice correct hand signals.
The hands-on portion of the bike rodeo includes a riding course where students can put their skills to the test. They’ll practice stopping, signaling, and proceeding safely through intersections.
