Aerial Athletics Cheer season concludes with the All-Star Cheer Extravaganza

Apr 16, 2026 | 5:34 PM

This past weekend, the Aerial Cheer Athletics club concluded the cheer season in Edmonton at the All-Star Cheer Extravaganza.

Both the U12 Nova team and U16 Eclipse team placed fourth in their respective divisions to cap off the season.

Club director Rena Fauchon said that it was probably the best that both teams performed all year.

“There (were) a few things at the pyramid for both groups that were changed, but otherwise they just performed so good. The energy was up more, and it was just all-around good performances.”

As the season comes to an end, the club looks to the future after a big jump in the number of athletes this season.

“Last year we had 14 athletes, this year we had 40. So that was a a big jump. We went from one team to three teams,” said Fauchon.

The club also offered a five-week class and will be offering spring classes which will be posted on their Facebook

With a growing club, it also takes much more manpower than when they first started.

“When you’re at a competition and you have three teams, they’re all performing in different sessions at different times. The awards are at different times for myself and the coaches,” said Fauchon. “It’s a long, busy but fun day, so it takes up a lot of time. The more teams you get, we will have to get more coaches as well too.”

The club looks to add a U12 level one prep team, giving kids different options for the commitment level as the new team would be more suited for beginners.

“It’s a (once a) week, two-hour practice as opposed to twice a week practice. So, it’s for kids that have different sports they’re in and can’t commit fully to the 100% commitment of All-Star.”

Fauchon also mentioned that the club aims to eventually implement a U18 team, but don’t have enough athletes yet.

The club will be hosting a try cheer event on April 23 for kids to see what cheer is about and gauge their interest in joining the club. It’s free to attend but kids still must sign up on their Facebook or email Aerialcheerathletics@gmail.com.

They also have team placement registration available from May 15-31 for those looking to sign up for next season.
