RCMP investigate suspicious death of a 65-year-old woman in Battleford

Police are asking residents who live in the 20th Street West area in Battleford to check their home security cameras and doorbell cameras between April 1 and April 8.

They’re looking for any suspicious activity that could help them in the homicide investigation of a woman who was found deceased at a home in Battleford on April 8.

Around 2:45 p.m. that day, Battlefords RCMP received a report that the woman’s body was found in a home on 20th Street West in Battleford.

She has been identified by RCMP as 65-year-old Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko from North Battleford. Her family has been notified.  

The woman’s death is considered suspicious and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has taken over the case.

Police are asking any residents whose devices may have captured images and videos of suspicious activity to report it to the police immediately by calling 310-RCMP. Investigators said there will be an increased police presence on 20th Street West in Battleford for an undetermined amount of time. 

No other details were released.
