RCMP provide insight into highway shooting near Edmonton
More details have been released about the circumstances that led to an 18-year-old Lloydminster man being charged with second-degree murder, after a fatal shooting on a highway south of Edmonton last week.
In a news conference on April 1, Staff Sergeant John Brown with Alberta RCMP described the events that took place before the killing of 22-year-old Birinder Singh.
“Singh was driving with two friends when he was shot by one of the occupants of a Ford F-150 pickup. Despite being shot, Birinder and his two friends were able to safely stop his vehicle, however, Birinder died of his injuries shortly thereafter,” said Brown.
Soon after the murder, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit asked for the public’s assistance in collecting dash camera footage of the suspect vehicle and identifying those involved. RCMP received many tips regarding the information, which assisted in the investigation.
