Businesses in Lloydminster can authorize RCMP under new AGENT trespassing program

Businesses and property owners in Lloydminster will now have a new tool to address trespassing and nuisance activity on private property.

The city’s municipal enforcement unit and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Lloydminster have launched the Authorized General Enforcement for Nuisances and Trespassing (AGENT) Program, allowing businesses to authorize police and peace officers to act on their behalf when dealing with unlawful activity on their property.

Under the program, participating businesses can permit officers to address issues such as trespassing and loitering when property owners are not present.

The initiative is intended to help enforcement respond more efficiently to recurring complaints at certain properties.

“The AGENT Program allows participating businesses to authorize Police and Peace Officers to act as their representative when addressing trespassing, loitering, and other unlawful activity occurring on their property when they are not present,” the city stated in a release issued Tuesday.

Participation in the program is voluntary and free of charge.

Businesses that enroll will receive an AGENT identification sticker to display at their property. The program is designed as an additional option for property owners experiencing ongoing concerns related to nuisance activity.

Businesses and property owners interested in participating can complete an authorization form and submit it to the Lloydminster RCMP detachment at 5106 44 Street.

More information about the program and registration details are available on the city’s website.
