BREAK AND ENTER

Man found hiding in fridge after Saulteaux First Nation break-in, two charged by RCMP

Feb 25, 2026 | 11:34 AM

Battlefords RCMP has charged two men after responding to an in-progress break and enter.

On Feb. 19, at approximately 1 p.m. RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a residence on Saulteaux First Nation.

Officers identified a suspect fleeing on foot up a hill in the distance. They were able to locate the suspect by following his tracks in the snow; he was arrested at a nearby residence.

Further investigation indicated that a second suspect may be at the residence where the initial report began. Officers secured the perimeter and conducted a search inside the residence. That is where the second suspect was found hiding in the fridge, who was then arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 26-year-old Andy Swiftwolfe from North Battleford is charged with:

  • one count of attempting to break and enter with intent
  • one count of possession of property under $5,000 obtained by crime
  • one count of possession of break-in instruments

He was also arrested on several warrants: failing to attend court, possession of property obtained by crime, weapon possession, and assault.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Luckas Whiteford from Saulteaux First Nation, is charged with two counts of attempting to break and enter with intent.

Swiftwolfe and Whiteford appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb 23.
