North Stars aim for fourth straight win against the Warman Wolverines

Feb 20, 2026 | 1:00 PM

The Battlefords North Stars are set to host the Warman Wolverines tonight in their first home game since Feb. 7.

That was the last time the North Stars and Wolverines faced off when Battlefords won 7-6 in the shootout. Alessio Nardelli had two points (1G-1A) and added the shootout winner, while Owen Nelson had two goals of his own.

The North Stars (31-12-3-2, 1st in Nutrien Division) shift their sights fully towards chasing first place in the SJHL after clinching a playoff spot as well as the first-place spot in the division.

“The hard work starts now you know now you start the preparation of fine-tuning your game really trying to clean up the areas that you know you feel have been deficient or you’re not, operating at the highest level,” said North Stars head coach Connor Logan. “We’re really going to try to be as detail oriented as we can down the stretch, really start to get the looks that we want heading into the postseason.”

In their last 10 games, the North Stars have a 6-4-0-0 record and have won their last three games with a 4-2 win over the Kindersley Klippers in their last contest on Family Day. Nelson has been arguably the best player for the North Stars, boasting a three-game goal streak.

The line of Nelson, Nardelli and Drew Williamson has been the best on the team recently. In their three-game winning streak, Nelson has seven points (4G-3A). While Williamson has three points (2G-1A), and Nardelli has a pair of assists.

On the other side, the Wolverines are trying to avoid their fourth straight loss, with the latest coming against the Melfort Mustangs, 4-3 in overtime on Feb. 16.

This is the last game of the season between the North Stars and Wolverines. In head-to-head contests, the North Stars have a 5-0-1-1 record. In those seven games, Josh Knittig and Drew Williamson have led in scoring for the North Stars with 11 points (5G-6A) each, with Anthony Campbell just one point behind with 10 (2G-8A).

The Wolverines have a four-way tie in first place for scoring against the North Stars. Pherson Loehndorf (4G-4A), Vincent Palmarin, Cam Sarna and Kanyan Unger (2G-6A) all have eight points each against the North Stars.

The Flin Flon Bombers host the Melville Millionaires tonight as the North Stars continue to chase Flin Flon for the top spot in the SJHL.

The Ultra Print pregame show begins at 7:00 pm, while the puck drops for Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey at 7:30 on CJNB/CJNS.
