North Stars head to La Ronge for a pair of games with the Ice Wolves

Feb 13, 2026 | 1:03 PM

The Battlefords North Stars are set for their second and third straight UPL matchups when they face off with the La Ronge Ice Wolves this weekend.

La Ronge is the second last city the North Stars have yet to travel to, with Flin Flon being the last in early March.

The two played each other recently for a pair of games on Jan. 23 and 24, resulting in back-to-back high scoring wins for the North Stars, 7-6 and 7-2.

The North Stars are trying to get back into a groove after falling 6-1 to the Hawks on Feb. 10 in Nipawin. Drew Williamson was the lone goal scorer in that game, extending his point streak to six games. Linken Fisher had an assist on the goal as well, bringing his point streak up to seven.

After reflecting on the tough loss against the Hawks, North Stars head coach Connor Logan knows those games will happen and expressed that it’s better to happen in the regular season so you can address those issues in game come playoff time.

“These are positives, I think, in the long run because you need to address them. You’re constantly trying to evolve your game, and iron out different parts of your game and I think for us it was just a wakeup call and an opportunity to kind of reinvent ourselves.”

Logan is ready for his squad to move forward from the loss, while still taking things day by day which is something that has been important to the North Stars all season long.

“I think we addressed the things we needed to address and now it’s up to us to go out and perform and just taking it a game at a time still,” said Logan. “You don’t want to look too far ahead, especially with everything that’s going on. The noise around the standings and the matchups.”

While the Flin Flon Bombers still have a seven-point cushion on the first-place spot in the league, the North Stars are still chasing that mark. At the same time, the Yorkton Terriers and Nipawin Hawks are both chasing the North Stars for the second-place spot, both just a point behind the North Stars.

Flin Flon plays the Kindersley Klippers tonight, and Yorkton takes on the Warman Wolverines while Nipawin has the night off.

In head-to-head matchups, Josh Knittig led the way in scoring for the North Stars with six points (1G-5A) in the pair of games against La Ronge.

The game comes on the same day that Knittig was announced as the CJHL’s third star of the month for January with 20 points (10G-10A) in 12 games.

The Ultra Print pregame show starts at 7:00 pm. Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7:30 on CJNB/CJNS.
