Turtleford-area triple homicide case set for preliminary hearing

Feb 12, 2026 | 4:29 PM

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a 25-year-old woman charged in connection with a fatal shooting that left three men dead near Turtleford.

Madison Paddy-Jimmy is set to appear on June 8 for a second-degree murder charge related to the death of 28-year-old Tonio Cantell of Island Lake First Nation on Nov. 5, 2025.

Proceedings are expected to take place in the Ranch Room at the Lloydminster Exhibition and are scheduled for the entire week, although the hearing could conclude earlier. A preliminary hearing is held to determine whether prosecutors have sufficient evidence for a case to proceed to trial.

Paddy-Jimmy also faces several unrelated charges that are scheduled to return to Lloydminster court on March 9. Those matters include two assault charges, multiple counts of failing to appear in court and one charge of obstruction.

The murder charge stems from a police investigation launched after officers responded to a report of injured men at a rural property northwest of Turtleford at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2025.

RCMP said officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but three men were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined each victim had suffered gunshot wounds, and multiple firearms were seized from the property.

Police charged Paddy-Jimmy in connection with Cantell’s death. RCMP said the other victims included a 46-year-old man from Turtleford and another man whose identity has not been publicly released. Police added that the victims’ families were notified and offered support through victim services.

Investigators have said they do not believe there are additional suspects or victims connected to the case.

The investigation remains under the direction of RCMP Major Crimes, with assistance from officers in Turtleford, North Battleford, Saskatoon and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
