Three men charged after RCMP seize drugs, weapons at North Battleford business

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team has charged three men at a business in North Battleford after seizing cocaine, methamphetamine, and weapons.  

On Feb 7, RCMP located a vehicle that was previously reported stolen during a patrol in North Battleford. The vehicle was parked at a business on the Highway 16 Bypass with no occupants and was recovered by police.  

While at the business investigating the stolen vehicle, officers saw a man with a firearm inside the business. RCMP entered the business and arrested three men. 

Officers obtained a warrant and searched a room in the business where the men were arrested. During the search, police recovered 379 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine, a firearm, a sword, bear spray, ammunition, and a sum of cash were located and seized. 

As a result of further investigation, 47-year-old Steven Nighttraveller from Little Pine First Nation, 34-year-old Nissar Khan from North Battleford, and 22-year-old Isaiah Pewapisconias from Little Pine First Nation, are charged with: 

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine 
  • two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • one count, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number 
  • two counts, unsafe storage of firearm/ammunition 

Steven Nighttraveller is additionally charged with: 

  • two counts, possession of a firearm/ammunition when knowing possession unauthorized 
  • four counts, fail to comply with release order condition 

Isaiah Pewapisconias is additionally charged with two counts, possession of a firearm/ammunition when knowing possession unauthorized. 

Nighttraveller, Khan, and Pewapisconias appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Feb 9.
