LOSSES OF PUBLIC MONEY

Employee misconduct leads to over $16K loss for Lloyd Catholic school division

Feb 6, 2026 | 10:15 AM

More than $16,000 in public money was lost within a Lloydminster-area school division after an employee allegedly misappropriated funds.

The Losses of Public Money report covering September to November 2025 states the Lloydminster Roman Catholic School Division No. 89 reported a loss of $16,161.

The report states the employee misused funds, including cash and a corporate purchase card, for personal items between January and mid-September 2025.

The school division reported the matter to the RCMP and said the employee is no longer employed with the division.

According to the report, the division has recovered $10,341 so far, while the former employee has committed to repaying the remaining balance.

The losses report tracks incidents involving fraud or similar illegal acts by employees, suppliers or contractors that result in losses of more than $500 for school divisions.

The same report also lists a separate case involving Prairie South School Division No. 210, based in Moose Jaw, where an employee made unauthorized fuel purchases totalling $2,016 using a cardlock gas card. The employee in that case is also no longer employed and the matter was reported to police.
