Driver clocked travelling 169 km/h in 80 zone: police

Police are asking for the public’s help after a vehicle was clocked travelling more than double the speed limit before fleeing officers near North Battleford on Tuesday.

A Community Safety Officer spotted a silver Toyota Camry travelling 169 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 4 northbound shortly before 3 p.m.

According to authorities, the officer activated emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, believed to be a 2007 to 2009 model Camry. The driver instead fled and turned onto Forest Hall Road. 

Due to safety concerns, officers did not pursue the vehicle. 

Police also said the vehicle was not equipped with a licence plate.
